How to read the board

Health & Facing

HP bar — small pips at the bottom of each token (filled = remaining HP, empty = lost). Shape + number, never colour alone.
Facing notch — a small triangle on the token edge pointing the direction the piece faces. Governs forward for Archer (shots), Pikeman (strikes), and Swordsmen (movement). Use ↻ Rotate to change it.

Tactics (tray below the board)

Rotate — Turn one S/P/A/K unit to a new facing. Unlimited uses.
Rally — Return your last-fallen piece to your back rank, at full HP. One use.
Decree — Take a second action (move, melee, shot, or strike) this turn. One use.

↻ Rotate costs your whole turn. Armed tactics mark their targets with the dashed ✦ overlay. Rally and Decree are one-use.

Pieces

A Archer 1 HP · rotatable — Shot — a forward cone, single target, unlimited.
T Knight 3 HP — Melee; Joust lunge (move 2, strike the 3rd) once per game.
H Horseman 2 HP — Melee (advances on a kill).
S Swordsmen 2 HP · rotatable — Melee along its move lines. Promotes to Berserker on the far rank.
P Pikeman 2 HP · rotatable — Strike in place across its three forward tiles (never advances).
B Berserker 3 HP — Melee an adjacent enemy (advances on a kill).

Attacks

Melee (K T H S B) — advance to contact, deal 1 damage. Advance onto kill.
Archer shot (A) — forward cone, range 2–3, no point-blank. Stay put.
Queen artillery (Q) — deeper cone, any direction, up to 2× per game.
Pikeman strike (P) — three forward tiles in place. Never advances.
Knight Joust (T) — move 2, strike tile 3. Once per game. Never advances onto kill.

All attacks deal exactly 1 HP. A piece is removed only at 0 HP. Win by reducing either enemy royal (K or Q) to 0 HP, or marching both your royals to the enemy back rank side by side.
